Confirm Your Outgoing Calls With Call Confirm

Posted by Karey Westfall in "Android Software" @ 06:00 AM

http://lifehacker.com/5676254/call-...ll+(Lifehacker)

"Android: If yourself frequently dialing contacts by accident on your phone..."

The free Call Confirm app allows you to have a double check system for your phone to prevent accidental calls. The app works by popping up a message asking you if you would really like to call the contact and you have to tap on call to confirm. Great idea for anyone who is a constant "pocket dialer", but for the user who doesn't have this issue it is just an additional step. Besides, isn't that why your phone has a screen lock feature?

Facebook Now Available on HootSuite

Posted by Karey Westfall in "Android Software" @ 05:00 AM

http://androinica.com/2010/10/19/ho...e+Android+Blog)

"There's no fun in being a Twitter client anymore. The trend now is to be a "social" or "lifestream" app that can draw from many sources and integrate the social media experience into one source. HootSuite does that on the desktop, and now the pro-friendly app does it on Android, too. After switching from a paid application to a free app, HootSuite has added Facebook to its repertoire and graduated from being just another Android Twitter app."

Not only does HootSuite offer Twitter availability, but it also now includes Facebook. Now you can get both your Facebook and Twitter fix with HootSuite!

On the Go Answers With Wolfram Alpha App

Posted by Karey Westfall in "Android Software" @ 02:30 PM

"While Google still remains the king of search, there seems to be a movement towards providing answers rather than web page results. We've seen Microsoft offer Bing - some Verizon Android users are more than aware - which they market as a "decision engine."...If you're looking for answers to objective questions, Wolfram Alpha can give you the answer. It's now available for your Android."

Search for answers on your phone with Wolfram Alpha, now available for Android. Wolfram Alpha is a great application to have because it will give you answers for free on a wide range of subjects. But keep in mind that it works best with math, science and time/date-based questions and will provide only "fast facts" on other subjects. Meaning, you probably won't win any trivia contests with Wolfram Alpha, but it will tell you how many more days until your vacation!
