"Samsung's Galaxy Tab is fast becoming the main competitor to the iPad. With its hi-res 7-inch screen, a more travel-friendly design, and access to the Android Market, the Tab strikes a strong balance between a large smart phone and Apple's larger tablet."

Wondering if the Samsung Galaxy Tab is the tablet for you? Take a look at this review to help you make up your mind.

The Galaxy Tab is not so Far Away

Posted by Hooch Tan in "Digital Home News" @ 07:00 AM

http://www.engadget.com/2010/11/01/...axy-tab-review/

"The Tab certainly packed the specs -- a 1GHz processor, full Flash support thanks to Android 2.2, dual cameras, support for up to 32GB of storage and WiFi / 3G connectivity -- to put other Android tablets to shame, and our initial hands-on with it only had us yearning for more."

Sell! Sell! Sell! Slate tablets are the hottest thing right now and everyone wants a piece of the potentially lucrative pie. Samsung's entry is the Galaxy Tab, a 7 inch Android wonder. Along with the usual Android goodness there are some custom Samsung apps to help the lightweight tablet along and make better use the screen. It is nice to see that there is going to be some competition against the iPad as it will help drive innovation and make sure that no one stagnates in this revived market. The big decision looks like it will be either you go with a 7 inch or 10 inch model. Both have their advantages and there could be room for both. I am just waiting for the standardized keyboard to use with all these tablets so I can type faster. Oh, wait...

Samsung Galaxy Tab Coming to Sprint This Fall

Posted by Jon Westfall in "Android Slates/Tablets & Accessories" @ 05:00 PM

http://newsroom.sprint.com/article_...article_id=1636

"Sprint (NYSE: S) and Samsung Telecommunications America (Samsung Mobile), the No. 1 mobile phone provider in the United States1, today announced the upcoming arrival of Samsung Galaxy TabTM to the Sprint 3G network this fall. This new tablet combines the popular Android platform and award-winning data features of the Samsung Galaxy S lineup of mobile devices with the reliability and value of Sprint and access to the Sprint 3G network. Samsung Galaxy Tab weighs less than a pound and features a brilliant 7-inch Enhanced TFT touchscreen display, Android 2.2, a 1GHz Hummingbird Application processor, supporting 3D graphics and smooth Web browsing, as well as dual cameras for video chat on-the-go. It offers two fast and easy ways to enter text onto the tablet - a virtual keyboard and SWYPE technology, which allows users to input text faster and more intuitively with one continuous finger motion across the virtual keyboard."

Well folks, looks like it's official for at least one carrier - Sprint will be carrying the Samsung Galaxy Tab this fall. No word on a firm release date or pricing, and sadly it'll only be 3G, not taking advantage of Sprint's 4G technology. 3 MP camera on the back, 1.5 MP on the front (3?!? Why can't we get at least 5?)

$200 or $1030 Samsung Galaxy Tab - What's the difference?

Posted by Karey Westfall in "Android Slates/Tablets & Accessories" @ 01:00 PM

"A Samsung product exec told the WSJ that the Galaxy Tab would retail for between $200 - $300 in the US, but..."

So according to Amazon Germany, the Samsung Galaxy Tab will retail over there for 799 Euro (approx. $1030 US). That's quite a bit more than what we heard our for our price! How much would you consider paying for the Galaxy Tab?

Samsung Galaxy Tab Sports 7 Inches of Froyo Goodness

Posted by Karey Westfall in "Samsung Android Phones" @ 10:00 AM

http://gizmodo.com/5627498/samsungs.../full+(Gizmodo)

"Berlin, Germany, September 2nd, 2010 - Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, a global leader in mobile technology, today announced the launch of the Samsung GALAXY Tab (Model: GT-P1000). Powered by Android Operating System 2.2, the Samsung GALAXY Tab is the first of the company's tablet devices, representing a new category of mobile products for Samsung. The Samsung GALAXY Tab brings together all of Samsung's leading innovations to provide users with more capabilities while on the move. Consumers are able to experience PC-like web-browsing and enjoy all forms of multimedia content on the perfectly sized 7-inch display, wherever they go. Moreover, users can continuously communicate via e-mail, voice and video call, SMS/MMS or social network with the optimized user interface."

The Samsung Galaxy Tab looks interesting and may have some promise, but it also appears as if some features could be improved, such as the 3 MP camera and a more common power adapter. But then again, all genres of new technology have room for improvement.
