Be a Super Texter with Auto SMS!

Posted by Jon Westfall in "Android Software" @ 11:30 AM

https://market.android.com/details?...e=search_result

"Android: If you receive many text messages or calls at inopportune times, like when you're driving, Auto SMS might be very useful for you."

I'm a big fan of automation, and this seems like a great way to send timely messages and auto reply (i.e. to avoid the temptation to text while driving/flying/walking/etc...). Nice tool, and FREE!

Read It Later Offers Free App, Includes Less Features

Posted by Karey Westfall in "Android Software" @ 02:00 PM

http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile...ed-for-android/

"Popular multiplatform web page/article archiver and offline viewer, Read It Later, came to Android roughly two and a half months ago with a $2.99 price tag. A free version of the app has just been released to the Android Market."

If you just can't part with $2.99, Read It Now's new free app may be for you. The free version works just like the paid app but it includes less features and limits the number of web pages you can download for reading later. It is a great way to test drive the app if you are unsure about purchasing it or you just don't need all the bells and whistles.

Flame Free Lighter App Provides the Ultimate Concert Experience

Posted by Karey Westfall in "Android Software" @ 08:00 AM

http://gizmodo.com/#!5793992/use-an...-concert-ritual

"Back when everyone was smoking cigarettes wherever the hell they wanted, concertgoers apparently did this thing where they'd wave their lighters around during certain songs?"

As concert season quickly approaches, don't forget to download the Zippo Lighter app. Basically the app serves one purpose: to provide a safe, flame-less Zippo lighter for the ultimate concert experience. And if you really want, you can also flip the lighter on and off and customize it. Not much of an app, but it will add to your concert enjoyment, especially at smoke free venues!

Get the G2 from T-Mobile for Free

Posted by Craig Horlacher in "Android Mobile Operators" @ 07:00 AM

http://www.tmonews.com/2011/01/t-mo...n-t-mobile-com/

"Oh, how we love a good deal and this one comes courtesy of T-Mobile.com with the T-Mobile G2 going for the low low price of…free! Of course, this requires a new 2-year commitment."

The G2 is a device that never seemed to get much attention, possibly because of it's 800MHz CPU. Don't let the lower number fool you though. This is a second generation Snapdragon that is just as fast as a lot of 1GHz CPU's out there. In fact, it's probably faster for graphics and maybe some other things. Basically, if you want a good Android phone with a physical keyboard this is a great deal!

Get Your (Mobile) Hoot on for Free on October 13

Posted by Jon Westfall in "Android Software" @ 10:30 AM

http://blog.hootsuite.com/mobile-apps-free/

"Mobile HootSuite fans will enjoy an added bonus next week - as of noon PST on October 13, the full version of HootSuite for iPhone and HootSuite for Android will be absolutely FREE to download. We also have a bundle of other mobile news to announce for all the high-flying mobile owls in the coming weeks."

I'm a big fan of HootSuite on the desktop, and bought their mobile app a few months ago. Now it looks like they've decided to remove the small stumbling block of a price to their mobile suite on - October 13, next Wednesday. So if you're a "night owl", go ahead and mark your calendars for Free HootSuite Mobile day for Android (And yes, perhaps iOS too...)

Stop Carrying Reward Cards! Use Key Ring!

Posted by Jon Westfall in "Android Software" @ 08:00 AM

Grocery and other stores that offer deals to those who shelp around with reward cards in their wallets are evil, evil institutions. But just venture into them once without said magic little card and watch as your eyes bug out at all the money you could be saving if you'd just let them track your preferences a little bit by using their reward card. If you're a minimalist like myself, you probably hate having the scraps of plastic dangling from your keys or filling up your money clip (You mean you don't carry just a money clip?). To help us with this annoyance comes Key Ring, by Froogloid which promises to let you ditch the cards and go to an all electronic alternative. But does it work? While the price is right, let's see if it's worth an installation... Read more...
