Video Game Controls For Mobile Phones Arrives Via Xperia Play

Posted by Karey Westfall in "Android Mobile Operators" @ 04:00 AM

http://arstechnica.com/gaming/revie...tm_campaign=rss

"The Xperia Play, an Android-powered, gaming-optimized phone designed by Sony Ericsson, tries to bridge the gap between PlayStation games and the mobile platform. The Xperia Play's most significant feature is the inclusion of a slide-out DualShock controller-type set of controls, geared toward customers who find themselves carrying a handheld console along with their phone because they are disappointed by touchscreen-oriented mobile games and prefer the more precise experience of a controller."

Buttons, buttons and more buttons! The Xperia Play brings joysticks and analog pads to mobile phones! The Play should be out soon, but in the meantime take a look at all the features that it will offer!

New Store for Android Games Opens its Virtual Doors: PlayAndroid.com

Posted by Craig Horlacher in "Android Software" @ 10:00 AM

http://www.playandroid.com/

""We aim at solving the mobile app discovery problem through our editorially selected premium games in a social community environment", explains David An. This is done by an inhouse editorial team which only selects premium Android games - violent-free and non-adult content."

Are you looking for better way to find new Android games? Give PlayAndroid.com a try. With so many duplicates and poor quality games out there it's great to have a store that weeds those out. I used Play Android to quickly find a game. Then I scanned the QR code with my phone to install it from the Android Market. I'll definitely go back. I like the organization and the information provided. Take a look and let us know what you think! You can follow the "More" link for the full press release. Read more...

Flight Control Lands On Android

Posted by Craig Horlacher in "Android Software" @ 01:30 PM

http://www.talkandroid.com/31077-fl...s,+and+Updates)

"For a whopping $4.99, you can be well on your way to strategically landing planes on their respective colored runways. The addicting game allows you to trace out your route for multiple planes as you try to land them safely without crashing into each other."

Namco has brought their popular Flight Control game from iOS to Android. At $4.99 it sounds a little on the pricey side for any app these days but we'll have to see how it sells. It's great to see a well known game company like Namco continue to bring games to the Android platform. Is Flight Control a game you shell out the cash for or is $4.99 more than you want to pay?

Update: Namco lowered the price to $2.99!!! I'm not sure if it's permanent but that's the price in the Market now!

New 3D Sci-Fi MMO Game Coming to Android

Posted by Craig Horlacher in "Android Software" @ 09:00 AM

http://blackstargame.com/

"Blackstar tells the story of 41st century conflict between the ruthless Scorn, a race endowed with arcane powers granted by alien gods; the Riven, necro-cyborg beings allied with the Scorn; the futuristic humans of the United Colonies Defense Force, and their robotic allies known as the Mode."

Spacetime Studios' has developed what looks like a visually stunning and immersive MMO for mobile devices. Due out the second quarter of this year Blackstar will run on Android and iOS devices. Some of the features include three customizable character classes, thousands of items, social tools, and world-wide, multi-player, open-world game play. I'm not much of an MMO player but this does look like an amazing 3D Sci-Fi game. I just may have to try it out! Make sure you go to the Blackstar website for more information and to check out the other screen shots in the gallery. Is this a game you'll be watching for release of?

Interview Reveals Guild Wars 2 Available for Android

Posted by Karey Westfall in "Android Software" @ 11:00 AM

http://www.arena.net/blog/gaming-ou...nded-experience

"Video games have evolved far past the button-mashing days when your entertainment was easy to forget because the game was simple. Games today often influence our emotions, making us feel as though we are part of the story, part of the game universe, and that we matter in important ways. The end result is that, very much like other forms of entertainment, we find ourselves drawn to the experience even when we aren't in-game. Proof of this are the fan sites, forums, and other applications that we devour in order to continue the in-game experience. The bragging, information sharing, and verbal sparring we engage in on these sites are all signs of high levels of passion and our desire to continue the experience outside of the game."

The exciting game, Guild Wars 2, will be available for Android phones according to ArenaNet's Tech Director, Rick Ellis. The game looks fun and will allow you to interact with other players. And the best part - Android is one of the first platforms to have it!
