ASUS Announces New High-End Tablets

Posted by Craig Horlacher in "Android News" @ 11:30 AM

http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/09/...former-prime-t/

"Flustered with the original Transformer Prime you just purchased? We'd advise you to have a seat. ASUS just took the wraps off an all new Transformer Prime (the TF700T) here at CES, which is presumably designed to rival Acer's newly-announced Iconia Tab A700."

There are tons of new devices being announced at CES right now! How about a new ASUS Transformer Prime TF700T. It's a 10.1" quad-core tablet but with a 1.3GHz Tegra 3 CPU/GPU and a 1920x1200 Super IPS+ display!!! It also just weighs over a pound and will come with Ice Cream Sandwich! It will be compatible with the current tPrime keyboard/battery dock and is due to hit North America next quarter.

If you've been eyeing up the Kindle Fire you may want to consider the ASUS Eee Pad MeMO (ME171). It has a 7" 1280x800 IPS display and a 1.2GHz Qualcomm CPU/GPU along with 1GB of RAM and 16 or 32GB of built in storage. The Eee Pad MeMO will also ship with Ice Cream Sandwich.

Make sure you check the article for all the details on both of these tablets. Does either of these look like what you've been waiting for?

HTC Brings Three New 4G Phones To The US Market

Posted by Jason Lee in "HTC Android Phones" @ 08:00 PM

http://www.htc.com/us/press/htc-lau...-smartphones/23

"HTC Corporation, a global leader in smartphone innovation and design, this week at the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) unveiled three new 4G smartphones together with three U.S. wireless operators, further solidifying HTC's position as the leader in 4G."

These days it's a little hard to get excited about yet another HTC Sense drone but you have to admit they are all over this 4G thing. This year's CES brings one new HTC 4G phone to each of the big three US carriers, AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint. If Sense and black slabs are your thing HTC has a fancy new 4G device for you regardless of what carrier you use. Anyone anxious to get your HTC 4G on?

LG is Getting Serious About Android

Posted by Craig Horlacher in "Android News" @ 03:00 PM

http://gizmodo.com/5725434/lg-optim.../full+(Gizmodo)

"At 9.2mm thick, the Optimus Black from LG is the new world's thinnest phone, and is pretty light too, at 109g. It's also got a 4-inch NOVA screen for viewing in direct sunlight, too, and a 2MP forward-facing camera."

Up until now I haven't seen any high end or otherwise very exciting Android phones from LG. It looks like they've stepped up to the plate with this thin phone that will be upgradable to Honeycomb. Besides being very bright the NOVA display is to have low power consumption, true blacks, and pure whites. I'm not sure if this is a new form of OLED but I'm guessing it may be since I don't think it's possible for LCD to do true black. T-Mobile has also announced a very nice looking Android tablet from LG called the G-Slate. It will be the first Honeycomb powered 4G tablet on T-Mobile. I love all the Android competition and innovation going on! One thing's for sure, choosing my next Android device will not be easy! Any thoughts on devices you've seen? How about a favorite phone or tablet?

Samsung Galaxy Player To Be Revealed At CES 2011

Posted by Karey Westfall in "Android Slates/Tablets & Accessories" @ 06:00 AM

http://www.samsunghub.com/2010/12/2...se-at-ces-2011/

"UPDATE: Front facing camera is VGA. Will come in 8GB, 16GB and 32GB storage capacities. Samsung has announced a new Android-based Galaxy Player that will be showcased next week at the CES 2011."

We had previously heard rumors that Samsung may unveil the new Galaxy Player very early in January, but it is now confirmed that they will spotlight it at CES next week. The Galaxy Player includes Android 2.2, front facing camera, 3.2 MP rear facing camera, 4 inch screen and other goodies. The front facing camera may turn out to be the feature you never knew you needed, so it will be interesting to see how well it is received after the Player is available for purchase.

That Big Red Fastness Get Your Data Right Through With Android And LTE

Posted by Jason Lee in "Android Mobile Operators" @ 02:00 PM

http://www.talkandroid.com/24243-is...ardware-at-ces/

"Oh, look... more Twitter news! According to the @VerizonWireless Twitter account, there's some pretty cool LTE stuff coming up at CES in two weeks."

The future is now, folks! No.. now. Okay, now... Well, soon anyway. This little tidbit of information from Verizon's official Twitter account implies that we might get a taste of Android drizzled with some, oh so sweet, LTE at CES. Be this a phone or a tablet we know not but with the stories I've heard about the raw speed of LTE data it will be a welcome addition to our robot army. Now if AT&T would roll out their LTE network, and I could get an unlocked "pure" Google phone with that LTE band, and if Polly the pig could learn how to fly....

Posted by Craig Horlacher in "Android Slates/Tablets & Accessories" @ 08:00 AM

What do you think? I like it and am looking forward to seeing Motorola's tablet. Are you waiting for a next-generation Android Tablet? What's one feature you would love to see in a new tablet with Honeycomb?
