Lifehacker Weighs In On the Best Android Calendar App

Posted by Jon Westfall in "Android Software" @ 04:00 AM

"Android has a ton of really, really great calendar apps. Business Calendar's ease of use, however, blows the pants off every other app, so it's what we recommend to most users."

The built-in Android calendar is horrible. Find something more useful in this list. The winner, Business Calendar, may be a bit expensive, but it is quite nice and much more useful than the default!

Keep Your Data Safe By Backing Up Automatically

Posted by Kevin Jackson in "Android Software" @ 05:00 AM

"In an ideal world, your Android's apps, their settings, and your system settings would automatically back up to the cloud so that if you lost your phone, bought a new one, or installed a new custom ROM, setting up a fresh device with everything in place would be a piece of cake. The good news: This utopian Android backup actually is possible. Here's how to set it up."

Lifehacker has a great write-up on keeping your (rooted) Android device backed up automatically. Titanium Backup alone is a great reason to root your phone, so check out this guide and, if you haven't rooted yet (why not?), check out this guide to rooting, also from Lifehacker.

So You Wanna Root

Posted by Kevin Jackson in "Android Talk" @ 05:00 PM

"With all the different devices out there running different versions of Android, the rooting process can be a little different for every phone. Here's a one-stop guide that should get you up and running with root access, no matter what device you have."

This really is a great resource and a "one-stop guide" for rooting your Android device. It gets easier and easier to do it and there are so many benefits, from installing custom ROMs, to getting rid of bloatware, to customizing the look and feel of your phone on every level, that it really pays to root. I just got a new Samsung Galaxy S 4G and within two hours of having it, it was rooted.

So check out this guide and your sure to find your device and discover the joys of rooting.
