The Sensational Pyramid? Introducing the HTC Sensation To the UK

Posted by Karey Westfall in "HTC Android Phones" @ 08:00 AM

"The HTC Pyramid will be called the HTC Sensation when it comes to the UK, Pocket-lint can exclusively confirm after talking to people familiar with the matter."

The HTC Sensation is said to be launching in the UK on April 12th. Some of you may know it by it's former name, the HTC Pyramid. Regardless of it's moniker, few details of it's stats and mobile carriers have been confirmed. But it is speculated that it will have a 4.3 inch screen, arrive in the US for Q2 and run gingerbread. Sounds like the only confirmed fact is it's name!

The Release Of O2's Xperia Play Delayed Due To Buggy Software

Posted by Karey Westfall in "Android Mobile Operators" @ 11:00 AM

"Oh, woe is us. Or, to be more precise, woe is us if we wanted the Xperia Play on the UK's O2 network on the day of its release, April 1st."

For all our UK friends out there - the Xperia Play's April 1st launch on the O2 network has been delayed due to software bugs. The bugs appear to be causing problems only for the O2 phones as Vodafone is planning on taking pre-orders by April 5th. But O2 is the only network that will carry the phone in white so you will have to wait if you want that color. The US version of the Play still is slated for a late spring release. Do you think the US version is having bug issues and that is causing a delay in a definite release date?

HTC Flyer Launching in April in the UK

Posted by Kevin Jackson in "Android Slates/Tablets & Accessories" @ 05:30 PM

"It's different in a number of ways: it's packing a single-core CPU (though 1.5 GHz is still snappy); it's running Gingerbread with Sense UI, with Honeycomb coming in Q2; it has a stylus and a number of handwriting/note taking features (hence the codename Scribe); and, it will be launching with the OnLive gaming service"

HTC's Flyer tablet will be launching soon (sometime in April, most likely) in the UK. Pricing is a bit high compared to the other tablets coming out, but the £500.00 (about $813 USD) is marked a preliminary price, so we can only hope that it drops quite a bit. No word on a US launch, but can it be too far behind?

This tablet seems to buck the trend of most of the newer tablets coming out with a single-core processor, Gingerbread, and a stylus, but it looks intriguing nonetheless. Anyone excited about this device, or are you waiting one of the others on the horizon?

Nexus S to be Available Soon at Subsidized Pricing in the UK

"...Nexus S™ will soon be available in Vodafone stores around the world. The world’s first handset to come powered by the latest version of the Android™ platform known as Gingerbread..."

I love what Google tried to do with the Nexus One in getting a clean Google phone available as an option on all US carriers. It's too bad they were not very successful. I'm glad to see other companies around the world willing to offer the Nexus S at their subsidized pricing! I'm glad there are a ton of unique Android phones to choose from but I still think everyone should be able to get a clean Android phone on the carrier of their choice. I'm excited to see that Vodafone is moving in the right direction. Verizon, can you hear me now?
