T-Mobile myTouch and myTouch Q Now Official, Coming Before the Holidays

Posted by Craig Horlacher in "Android News" @ 11:00 AM

http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/06/...st-in-time-for/

"The 4G-capable myTouch and myTouch Q are everything the leaks indicated, with the former sporting a 3.8-inch touch screen and the latter coming home with a 3.5-inch screen (no word on the display tech used in either one) and landscape sliding QWERTY keyboard."

T-Mobile has two new entry level Android phones on the way. They have special features to simplify their use and teach you how to use them. Both seem to be reasonable devices with a 1GHz CPU, 512MB of RAM, 5MP camera that does 720p video, and Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). The myTouch has a front facing camera. The myTouch Q has a slide-out landscape orientation qwerty keyboard. Both phones are 4G capable.

I'd have a hard time recommending the myTouch Q since it only has a 3.5" screen. The myTouch is better off with a 3.8" screen. It's a shame that both phones seem to have a lot of wasted space at the top and the bottom when holding them in portrait orientation. I guess they could be just the thing for someone looking for an Android phone on a tight budget. Let us know what you think!

MyTouch 4G Slide Coming to T-Mobile in July

Posted by Kevin Jackson in "HTC Android Phones" @ 07:00 AM

http://www.tmonews.com/2011/06/t-mo...touch-4g-slide/

"The myTouch 4G Slide also features a full HD 1080p camcorder with audio recording and the ability to edit your videos directly on the device. The 4G slide comes with a 3.7″ WVGA Super LCD touchscreen display, slide-out full qwerty keyboard, Android 2.3, Sense 3.0 and partners up with T-Mobile's super fast 4G network with a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor."

I must say that the MyTouch line has come along nicely from its humble beginnings. For anyone looking for a full QWERTY keyboard in an attractive package with compelling features, this is your device. The inclusion of full HD video recording with on-board editing and an 8 megapixel camera make this device worth looking at if you like to take lots of video and pictures.

HTC continues to impress me with their devices and I look forward to finding out more about this guy in the near future.

News On Two Anticipated Updates

Posted by Karey Westfall in "Android Software" @ 03:30 PM

Two little news bits on upcoming updates: First, the bad news. The myTouch Slide Android 2.2 update will be delayed due to unreliable Wi-Fi calling and a misdirection of which partition to store the update. HTC is working on the issues but no release date is set yet. Second, the good news. The myTouch 3G 3.5mm Jack and myTouch Fender LE Android 2.2 Froyo updates will be released beginning January 12th with all customer's receiving their update by February 1st. This update has been desired by myTouch fans since the release of the myTouch 3G updates in October and December of last year. Finally, the wait is over!

Engadget Reviews The myTouch 4G: Maybe T-Mobile Shouldn't Have Touched It So Much

Posted by Jason Lee in "HTC Android Phones" @ 06:00 PM

http://www.engadget.com/2010/11/05/...ouch-4g-review/

"Coming hot on the heels of the ultra-impressive G2, T-Mobile has returned to its myTouch series with the myTouch 4G. While the G2 is the natural enthusiast flagship, the 4G represents a flagship in its own right of a skinned, curated Android experience."

Engadget has given the T-Mobile myTouch 4G a thorough going over in their lengthy review of the device. For the most part I must agree with them. When I first saw this device I dismissed it as a low to mid-range mass market Android device. It wasn't until I saw some of the benchmarks coming back that I perked up and started paying attention. The hardware design really doesn't do anything for me and the software... I totally agree that the software tries way too hard to be "user friendly" and just ends up taking too much away from what could otherwise be a great device. Hardware wise though this is still very impressive. Anyone looking forward to picking up the myTouch 4G?

And both the LG Optimus T and the myTouch 4G are available in several colors! So the new releases give you plenty of options to choose from if you are looking to pick up a new or second (or third, fourth...) phone!

You've Got The Touch: myTouch 4G Confirmed For November 3rd

Posted by Jason Lee in "HTC Android Phones" @ 02:00 PM

http://www.tmonews.com/2010/10/myto...ber-3rd-launch/

"If you had any doubt at all regarding the November 3rd release for the myTouch 4G, here's your proof."

Need yourself some HSPA+ but don't really want a physical keyboard? Well your wait is almost over, folks. The above email pretty much confirms the rumored November 3rd launch date for the new myTouch 4G. This looks to be a pretty sweet device what with a 5 megapixle camera, 1GHz Snapdragon, Android 2.2, and 8 GB of memory on board. Anyone out there fancy the myTouch 4G over the G2?

Android 2.2 Froyo Arrives Today For T-Mobile myTouch 3G Users

Posted by Karey Westfall in "Android Mobile Operators" @ 01:00 AM

http://www.tmonews.com/2010/10/t-mo...nning-tomorrow/

"It's been quite a while since we've heard anything regarding the myTouch3G and future Android updates. A lot of you owners have moved on to bigger and better things but for those of you still holding on, or holding out for something better than I hope I have your attention. Beginning tomorrow, that's right, TOMORROW T-Mobile and HTC will begin an OTA rollout of Android 2.2"

The 2.2 Froyo update will be released as a staggered roll out, starting October 13th! This is fantastic news for us "older" Android users out there! But, unfortunately, this update will only be available for the original myTouch 3G and not for the myTouch 3G 3.5mm jack, myTouch Fender Limited Edition or myTouch 3G Slide. At least it gives me hope that T-Mobile hasn't forgotten about me and my update!

Magical Rogers HTC Magic 2.1 Update Released!

Posted by Karey Westfall in "HTC Android Phones" @ 01:42 PM

http://www.iwantmyonepointsix.com/?p=347

"It's official. After more than a year, we are finally getting Android 2.1 for the Rogers HTC Magic."

So the 2.1 Android update is now available for the Rogers HTC Magic. That's wonderful for all of you Magic users out there - really, I am happy for you! But I want to know, when will I be updating my T-Mobile MyTouch? I last heard the update for the MyTouch would be out mid-summer. Looks like that will not be happening! But since the Magic and the MyTouch are very similar, hopefully we will be seeing an update soon for us MyTouch users out there! Come on T-Mobile, I want my update!
